Portrait Photography by Peter Lee

Alongside my street photography, I also create portraits of friends, family, and clients in more personal settings. This includes both indoor studio photography and outdoor sessions using natural light. My aim is always the same: to capture personality, mood, and presence in an honest and engaging way. These portraits show another side of my work and are available on request for those interested in professional portrait sessions.

Rory

This was meant to be a corporate shoot for a few employees, but we took this during a break and I like it a lot. We went old school here with a classic Canon 5D from 2005. Taken in Shanghai, May 2020.

Angela

Angela in Tuan Jie Hu Park. Canon EOS 300D, Beijing, April 2005.

Helen

Canon EOS 5D, M1NT Club, Shanghai, July 2009.

Dodo

Dodo is a Shanghainese friend. She has I think a very unique, doll-like look, so I'd wanted to photograph her for a long time and eventually got her to agree to sit for me.

Ethan

On vacation in Biarritz, France. July 2019.

Yiko

I've always wanted to try one of these slow exposures. This was a half second exposure to blur the other people while Yiko stood very still. Nanjing Road East Metro Station, Shanghai, July 2008.

Yas

A night shoot with small Canon flashlights. Shanghai, December 2008.

Leanne & Charlie

Taken at my home studio. Shanghai, 2008.
